The founder and lead instructor of UBU programs and workshops is Michelle Lindstrom: a mom of two girls, wife, runner, group fitness instructor, journalist, editor, fundraising coordinator, and multi-sport enthusiast who grew up playing junior high and high school volleyball and competitive softball from youth into adulthood.
Ever Active Kids - child and adolescent programming for physical development.
Pre & Postnatal - modify group fitness classes for pregnant and postnatal women.
Group Fitness - general awareness of fitness trends, music, cueing, exercise analysis, and special populations.
Portable Equipment - group fitness without machines focused on class structure, choreography, movement combinations, safety, and alternate movements.
Aquafit - lead group fitness classes in the pool for shallow & deep participants at the same time, providing alternatives to challenge both groups.
Older Adult - concentrate on improving strength & flexibility so daily living activities aren't challenging for people ages 55+ & to stay in shape & increase social interaction.
Yoga - YMCA Level 1 training. Working on 200hr yoga training with Empowered Yoga to be completed by fall 2024.
Michelle is a trained journalist (SAIT print journalism diploma) with more than 15 years of experience writing about youth, fitness, and local leaders, while gathering research, and editing for publications including EDify, YEGFitness, IMPACT, LEAP, Heroes, Calgary Herald.
Michelle taught a Next Step Continuing Education Mindful Journaling Adult course that she applies to youth UBU programs to help them express themselves and be mindful.
